Fraud in in Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) and Police identity is increasing across the country day by day. Recent media reports are saying the same thing. In these incidents, there is fear among the people. As they are main victims, traders always feel unsafe to carry cash. Several investigating officers in the cases of these incidents said that the dismissed in various forces are often involved in these crimes.
Among the RAB-police identity theft incidents, one of the most discussed incidents is January 22’s incident of this year, which occurred at Faridpur's Sadar Upazila. Atiqul Islam, an agent banking businessman, withdrew Tk 10 lakh 8 thousand 500 from the Islami Bank branch on this day. He was going to his agent bank in Bhanga Upazila by bus with the money. On the way near Madhavpur Bridge, a group of people coming from behind in a black-colored microbus stopped the local bus in the identity of RAB. They boarded the bus and started beating Atiqul, Then; they took him out of the car along with the bag of money and took him to the microbus saying that he had a case against him. Later, the persons beat him severely, took away the money, and left him injured in the Jhatukdia area. Later, the locals rescued him in injured condition and admitted him to Bhanga Health Complex. Later, the victim filed a case in this incident.
Besides, gold merchant Md Jalal Uddin left for Faridpur by Dolphin Transport bus last Saturday evening with Tk 14 lakh from Dhaka. On the way, on the Dhaka-Bhanga highway expressway, a little before the Padma Bridge toll plaza, his bus was stopped by the introduction of Detective Brach (DB) police. Then 8-9 people got on the bus and beat up Jalal Uddin and snatched the Tk 14 lakh from the sale of jewelry. Then, they tied his hand-feet, hit him on the head, threw him on roadside, and ran away.
Not only Atiqul Islam or Jalaluddin, many more people are constantly being victimized by the fake RAB, DB police. However, there is no proper initiative to control such incidents. That's what crime experts said. They claimed that these crimes are increasing day by day. The experts said that the incidents of various types of criminal activities including fraud, theft, and robbery in the identity of the law enforcement forces are old, but earlier cases of robbery and robbery in the identity of the law enforcement forces rarely happened. For quite some time recently, the cases of fraud in their identity have been increasing. If these crimes are not controlled, they can take a dire form. Due to this people will lose confidence in various forces. For this, the administration has to be alert and keep criminals in check.

On April 2, the intelligence police arrested Md Siraj, a class eight pass, on the charge of impersonating the law and order forces and the President.

Besides, Comilla District Police arrested 3 fraudsters on March 2 on charges of cheating on the identity of Prime Minister's Press Secretary, RAB and Police SP. They are Merazul Islam (46), Md Zaman (43) and Md Ripon Fakir (37).
Dr. Tawohidul Haque, Society and Crime Expert said, currently, many crimes have increased under the authority of the law and order forces. I have seen that RAB-Police arresting the members of this gang. But they do the same after getting out of jail after arrest. It can be said that there is no proper initiative of government forces to suppress these crimes. Their violence is not decreasing, but there is no proper initiative to control these crimes.
Dhaka Metropolitan Intelligence Police Chief (DMP Additional Police Commissioner) Harun Or Rashid said in an interview that recently our intelligence police have been alert to prevent fraud, theft, and robbery in the identity of law enforcement agencies. We are working to catch them. However, common people should be careful about this. If anyone is in doubt, they should take the help of the nearest police station or the police.
