On (36 July) 5 August dictator Hasina fled from the country. A new victory comes through the bloodshed and uprising of thousands of students and mass people. On the demand of the people, on August 8, the Interim Government was formed under the leadership of Professor Dr Muhammad Yunus. A month has passed since then. It is not yet decided how long Dr Yunus will remain in power. Reliable sources in the government say that the student government will continue to lead the country until the reform of countries system and the removal of the fascist system in the country.
It is expected to take at least 3 years. The polls are rumored to be held by the end of 2027. In the meantime, the question has arisen, who will come to power after Yunus? BNP-Jamaat or someone else. Reliable sources of the interim government and political analysts say that it is difficult to predict which party will come to power. Because Hasina's downfall was not happened by any political movement. Dictatorship fell on the blood of students, workers, and common people.
The students and people controlled everything from the ground from Hasina’s oust. People's faith in revolutionary student leadership has skyrocketed. People will now think twice about casting a vote if suffrage is guaranteed. Many people think that it is an ordeal for BNP-Jamaat to be in power. These two parties are entering the field with full political strength. Many people also think that if they misuse political power and make mistakes, they can be isolated.
Already, many kinds of equations have been created in the polling field. Distance has been created in the erstwhile BNP-Jamaat over the issue of votes. The party expressed its anger as Dr Yunus' address to the nation did not outline the election. They wanted early elections. On the other hand, Jamaat welcomed the Yunus government and said it was time for reforms. After a month of interim government, many scenes are presented in the field. A large Islamic alliance is being formed with Islamic parties. The distance between the parties is closing. On the other hand, Nagorik Oikya, AB Party, Gana Odhikar Parishad, whose registration was suspended in the Election Commission, got their registration back. BNP is working with full strength to get people's sympathy on the flood issue. All the parties are doing strong politics on the issue to attract the voters.
On the other hand we see the students are still in the field. They are traveling across the country to ensure people's rights. Although they have not yet announced whether they will form a political party. I guess if they come at the end and form political parties, a miracle will happen.
Reliable sources say that before the election, it is very important to solve some basic problems like reorganizing the police force, forming the election commission, and bringing changes in the judiciary. It will not be possible to organize a free and acceptable election without reforming them. That is why Yunus government is focusing more on issues such as electoral system, law and order, public administration and reforming the four important sectors of the state.
The detailed source says that the election roadmap will be prepared within this month. A committee will also be formed to revise the constitution. The committee will decide the possible date for the election. It is assumed that the term of Dr. Yunus government may be three years. A leader of any political party cannot become the prime minister, and the importance is being given to these issues. The source commented that the number of times a prime minister will be in power in a row is adding up to the discussion.
Prominent political scientist Dr Dilara Chowdhury said that the time has come to reorganize the country. Election Commission, Police, Judiciary, Education if these issues are fixed soon, there will be an election. But political parties must show transparency before the election. Otherwise people will not accept it well.
Tariqul Islam, the coordinator of the anti-discrimination student movement, said that even in 53 years of independence, Bangladesh has not achieved anything desired. All the state structures of Bangladesh have been destroyed by politicians. People are deprived of their fair rights due to political interference. The country is now undergoing reforms.
