Postponed HSC exam cancelled amid protest

The ongoing HSC and equivalent examinations of the remaining subjects have been canceled in the face of the demand of the students.

Dhaka Board Chairman Professor Tapan Kumar Sarkar confirmed the matter yesterday. How the results of the HSC examination will be given, the decision will be taken later.

Meanwhile, the students went to the Secretariat yesterday afternoon and started a movement demanding auto pass and did not want to take the postponed HSC and equivalent examinations. In the emerging situation, the candidates want the results of the HSC examination to be published on the basis of the number of subjects that have already been examined and the postponed subject examination is mapped with the relevant subject of SSC.

The students of the Dhaka Education Board yesterday protested inside the Secretariat after besieging the Dhaka Education Board. A large number of students gathered under the building of the Ministry of Education at the Secretariat and protested. At one stage, at around 4pm, the 18th floor of the Secretariat went up to the Ministry of Education.

The students took position in front of the Secondary and Higher Education Department office of the ministry. At that time, all the entrances to the Secretariat were blocked. At one stage, according to their demands, the Ministry of Education announced the cancellation of the postponed examinations.

Meanwhile, HSC and equivalent examinations were postponed in several phases due to the situation arising due to the quota reform movement and the uprising of students and people in government jobs. At first, the test of July 18 was postponed. Then the examinations of July 21, 23 and 25 were postponed together. Then the examination was postponed from July 28 to August 1.

Later, it was decided that HSC and equivalent examinations will be held in the new schedule from August 11. But later it was informed that the test is not being held on August 11.

A source at the education board said that after Sheikh Hasina's resignation from the post of Prime Minister and leaving the country, the trunk containing question papers was damaged in the attacks on police stations in different areas. For this, the decision to take the test from August 11 was postponed. The Education Board proposed to the interim government to take the postponed examinations from September 11. It was also approved.

Meanwhile, the examinees protested at the Dhaka Education Board from noon to evening on Monday that they were not in a position to sit for the examination. In the emerging situation, the candidates want the results of the examination to be published on the basis of the number of subjects that have already been examined. Later, they suspended the movement with the positive assurance of fulfilling logical demands after discussions with the higher authorities.

After the demands of the students, it was decided to take half of the examinations of the remaining subjects of the HSC examination in the morning. It was decided to postpone the test for two weeks from September 11. But the students did not obey it and protested inside the Secretariat. In the face of the movement, the HSC and equivalent postponed examinations were canceled. The decision on how the results of the HSC examination will be given will be informed later.
