112-year-old Sufia Khatun was born in Panam village of Munshiganj Sadar upazila. She was married to Md Altajuddin Talukda of the neighboring village Uttar Panhata in Munshiganj. Her husband died 61 years ago, leaving behind 8 daughters and 2 sons. Since then, this elderly woman has fought in the battle of life with her children. One of the two boys is 90 years old. Five of the eight girls are alive today. There is also an 85-year-old daughter. Six daughters-in-law have also left.
But Sufia is still alive with a healthy body. Even at the age of 112, she has retained the precepts of Islam. Her husband's house is in Uttar Panhata area of Rampal union of Munshiganj Sadar. He lives in a small tin house with his son and other relatives living in the courtyard. They take care of Sufia.
Sufia is deprived of the government's old age pension and widow allowance among many people. People from all walks of life are fascinated by his behavior.
