Armed Forces Day celebrated in Cumilla

Like every year, the Armed Forces Day was celebrated with dignity at Cumilla Cantonment at yesterday afternoon.

The Chief Guest was General Officer Commanding (GOC) of 33 Infantry Division and Cumilla Area Commander Major General Abul Hasnat Mohammad Tariq, NDU, AFWC, PSC.

Speaking as the Chief Guest at the event, Abul Hasnat Mohammad Tariq said that in addition to performing professional duties, the Armed Forces have stood by the people at every juncture of the country. At the same time, he highlighted the contribution of the Armed Forces in dealing with any disaster at the national level, combating terrorism in the hilly Chattogram, assisting the civil administration and various nation-building activities. He also highlighted the importance of the armed forces members performing their duties with dedication in the UN peacekeeping operations to brighten the country's image in the international arena.

The chief guest highly praised the immense courage, cooperation and heroic contribution of the people of Cumilla region. He paid humble tribute to all the brave martyrs including the brave freedom fighters of Cumilla region and thanked all the freedom fighters, family members of the martyrs and invited guests.

Cumilla Police Superintendent Md Asfiquzzaman Akhtar, Additional Deputy Commissioner Pankaj Barua, District PP Kaimul Haque Rinku along with brave freedom fighters, family members of the martyrs, military and civilian officials, former members of the armed forces, local dignitaries and media persons were present at the event.
