In Chandpur city, Balia fish is being sold at Tk 1,000 to Tk 1,200 per kg. A few days ago, this fish was sold at Tk 700-800 per kg in the market. On Tuesday night, vendors were seen selling the fish at high prices in Bipanibagh and Palbazar.
Shyamal Sarkar, who came to buy fish at Bipanibagh market, said, "A few days ago, I bought baila fish from this market at Tk 700-800.
Now I can't even buy that fish from this market for Tk 1,000. The vendors have increased the price of fish so much. The fisheries department should monitor the market from now on so that the price of other fish does not increase.
Sultan, a vendor of baila fish in this market, said, "All the Balia fish are from haor here. There are no local rivers or cultivated balia fish here. Moreover, the price of baila is determined depending on the size. However, it is not possible to sell baila fish below Tk 1,000.
