The BGB has recovered gold jewelry worth about Tk 4 million made in India from the Damurhuda border in Chuadanga. The jewelry was recovered from the road of Chhaygharia village around 10:45 am yesterday.
Major Kazi Asif Ahmed, Additional Director and Acting Commander of Chuadanga-6 BGB, said this in a press release.
He said that based on specific information, it was learned that the consignment of gold jewelry would be smuggled from India through the area under the responsibility of Sultanpur BOP of Darshana Police Station in Damurhuda Upazila. Based on such information, Sultanpur BOP patrol team commander Habildar Md Ariful Islam led a force and ambushed them on the paved road in front of Chhaygharia Mosque, approximately 1 kilometer inside Bangladesh from border pillar 77/5-R.
At that time, around 10:45 am, BGB members saw three suspicious people going from the border towards Darshana on a motorcycle.
