Financial assistance has been provided by Bangladesh Nationalist Party ,(BNP) to the families of 8 students who were shot dead by Awami League leaders and activists in Feni during a one-phase movement for the resignation of the dictatorial Sheikh Hasina government.
Yesterday, the party's central vice chairman Abdul Awal Mintu went to the house of the martyrs and handed over the donation money to the family members. Advisor to BNP Chairperson Zainal Abedin VP, Chittagong Divisional Organizing Secretary of BNP Mahbubur Rahman Shamim, Co-Organizing Secretary VP Harun, Co-Training Affairs Secretary Rahena Akhter Ranu, Shahena Akhter Shanu, Executive Committee Member Abu Taleb, Moshiur Rahman Biplab were present.
Abdul Awal Mintu said while talking to the family members of the 8 martyrs in the district, the student society has ended the dictatorship for almost one and a half centuries. In exchange for their sacrifice, Bangladesh became free from dictatorship. A dictator who took away people's right to vote, their right to speak and their right to move freely. The people of Bangladesh were being exploited in the name of governance.
But the dictator Hasina fled the country due to the agitation of our students. He said that the coup ended the dictatorship. That coup succeeded at the cost of many fresh lives. Many have been killed by joining the anti-discrimination movement. The number of injured is also countless.
Those who participated in this movement and were killed, the present government will ensure punishment by bringing those involved in the incident under the law.
Abdul Awal Mintu also said that the Acting Chairman of his party, Tariq Rahman, said that if the BNP government comes to power, maximum punishment will be ensured to those involved in this casualty incident through the legal process and recognition will be given to those who were martyred in this movement. A new developed Bangladesh will be built with those who have freed the dictatorship by participating in this movement.
