According to the earlier announcement of the government, the Chandpur District Administration and Environment Directorate have started an operation against the polythene and polypropylene shopping bags nationwide. On Monday, the Department of Environment and District Administration Chandpur conducted a mobile court on Polythene, which was banned by the government in the wireless market of Chandpur district.
Assistant Commissioner of District Administration Nirbahi Magistrate Md Zakaria Hossain led the mobile court. Assistant Director of Environment Directorate, Chandpur District Office Md Hannan, Inspector Sharmita Ahmed Lia and Cashier Md Gias Uddin were present during the operation. Inspector of Department of Environment, Chandpur District Office Sharmita Ahmed Lia gave prosecution in the raid. A fine of Tk 5,000 shall be levied on M/s Tisha Store, Wireless Bazaar, Sadar, Chandpur for violation of section 15(1) 4(b) of the Bangladesh Environment Protection (Amendment) Act, 2010 during the campaign. A group of police forces of Chandpur Police Line actively cooperated in the operation to maintain law and order. At this time, everyone's cooperation is sought to stop the use of all types of polythene to protect the environment.
