Another case has been filed against 203 Awami League leaders and activists, with former MP from Jhalakathi-1 (Rajapur-Kantalia) constituency Barrister Shahjahan Omar Bir Uttam as the main accused.
Upazila BNP President Adv Talukder Abul Kalam Azad filed the case as the plaintiff (case number-5) on Friday night, alleging vandalism and arson at the Upazila BNP office. Rajapur Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md Ismail Hossain confirmed the case.
He said that a person named Lal Mridha has been arrested in the case and sent to court. Efforts are underway to arrest the remaining accused.
Notable accused in the case are Awami League Central Liberation War Affairs Subcommittee member Md Moniruzzaman Monir, District Awami League Science and Technology Secretary and former Upazila Chairman Md Moniruzzaman, former Upazila Chairman Md Hossain Shahid Jilani Milan Mahmud (Bachchu Mridha), Rajapur Upazila Awami League General Secretary and former Upazila Vice Chairman Md Zia Haider Khan Liton, former Upazila Chhatra League General Secretary and former Vice Chairman Abdullah Al Hasan Bappi Mridha, former Upazila Vice Chairman A Jalil Miyaji, Bangladesh Rural Development Board (BRDB) Rajapur branch chairman and Jubo League leader Md Sumon Sikder, Bariya UP Chairman Md Sahab Uddin Suru Mia and 53 others. In addition, 150 people have been made unknown accused.
