Yellow colored Cauliflower. At first glance, it seems that someone has painted on the white cauliflower. Earlier this kind of colorful cauliflower was not cultivated in Bangladesh. It started over the last few years. However, this type of cauliflower cultivation has started for the first time in Karimganj this year. With the support of the Upazila Agriculture Office, under the project titled "Increasing Crop Intensity in the Greater Mymensingh Region" colorful cauliflower has been cultivated through safe vegetable and fruit production exhibition. Md Sarwar Hossain, a young entrepreneur from Khudirjungal area of Karimganj municipality, got a bumper crop by cultivating such yellow colored cauliflower.
Entrepreneur said with the help of Karimganj Upazila Agriculture Office, he cultivated colorful cauliflower experimentally on 33 percent of the land using mulching method. Use of mulching method resulted in bumper yields. The local market has also responded well. Many are buying out of curiosity, selling at a higher price. The price of a colorful cauliflower is Tk 15 to 20 more than ordinary cauliflower. He was very happy to get the expected price. Seeing my success for the first time, now other farmers are also encouraged.
Md Mukshedul Haque, Upazila Agriculture Officer, said we are working to expand the profitable new technology for farmers through the Directorate of Agricultural Extension. In continuation of this, we selected the farmer Sarwar Hossain in the cultivation of colorful cauliflower. We collected about 2000 colorful cauliflower seedlings and provided them with technical support including appropriate fertilizer, pesticides and mulching paper. He succeeded in following with the instructions of Agriculture Office.
