A dredger machine has been seized for illegally extracting sand from Madhumati river. An operation was conducted under the leadership of Upazila Assistant Commissioner (Land) Erfanur Rahman in Machlandpur area of Madhukhali Upazila of Faridpur yesterday.
Assistant Commissioner (Lands) Erfanur Rahman confirmed the matter and said that floating dredger machines were installed in Madhumati river in Machlandpur area to extract sand. On receiving the information, an operation was conducted there. Sensing the presence of the mobile court, the sand lifters ran away. Then the illegal dredger machine used for sand extraction was seized.
