Not only the people of the country are getting sustenance from dried fish, but its huge demand is increasing outside the country as well. Therefore, the chemical-free dried fishes from Parerhat of Pirojpur are becoming popular day by day.
The concerned said, Collection of fish is high in Parerhat, because the district is very close to the Bay of Bengal. Here workers always spend busy time. There are about 35 types of sea fish including Dhela, Churi, Fapsya, Laitya, Marma, Poa, Chital, etc. Starting from the Bangla month ‘Kartik’, this dry business lasts for about five and a half months.
A worker of drying-fish project named Mizan Bepari said, I have been making dried fish here for five years. Here we make different types of fish fry. I do not use any kind of medicine. Due to high demand at our fish drying market, we are busy making dry fish during this time.
Shajahan Howladar, the owner of dried fish manufacturing shed said, we have been making dried fish here for 10 years. First there was a shed. There are currently eight sheds of phases Where more than two hundred workers are working. Due to the good quality of our dried fish here, it is in great demand. So day by day the scope of dried fish is increasing.
District Fishery Officer SM Azharul Islam said that Dried Fish is produced in this village in a healthy way without pesticides. As a result, there is a lot of demand for dry goods here. Employment opportunities are also increasing here. 10 years ago today, its journey started from one shed, but its number now stands at eight. And every year, about 100000 kg of dried fish is produced in this district. The market value of which is several crores of taka.
