Duck feed distributes among Indigenous

In Dhamoirhat, Naogaon, the Department of Livestock has distributed grain feed for ducks among indigenous communities. The distribution ceremony was inaugurated at 11:00 AM yesterday at the Dhamoirhat Upazila Livestock Office premises by the Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO), Mostafizur Rahman.

Present at the event were Livestock Officer Dr. Wazed Ali, Fisheries Officer Ayub Hossain, and Livestock Extension Officer Dr. Ripon Reza.

Under the Integrated Livestock Development Project, grain feed was distributed to indigenous beneficiaries living in the plains to improve their socio-economic status and quality of life. Dr. Wazed Ali mentioned that in the 2022-23 fiscal year, under the same project, 670 Indigenous people were provided with 20 ducks and 9 kilograms of grain feed each. Additionally, the recipients of the ducks were provided with 25 kilograms of feed each.

Meanwhile, UNO Mostafizur Rahman also visited the vegetable market in Dhamoirhat. To control the unrestrained profits of middlemen, he visited various shops selling meat, fish, vegetables, onions, garlic, and ginger on Sunday, December 29, at 10:00 AM and inquired about market prices. He requested the vendors to maintain reasonable prices for the benefit of ordinary consumers.

Dr. Wazed Ali, the Livestock Officer, and Dr. Ripon Reza, the Livestock Extension Officer, were also present during the market visit. After noticing the presence of the UNO, the butchers at the market started selling meat at Tk 600 per kilogram and assured the UNO that they would maintain this fair price regularly.

The presence of the UNO brought a sense of excitement among the consumers, and people expressed relief after seeing that essential products such as cauliflower were being sold for Tk 20 each, cabbage for Tk 20, beans for Tk 40-50 per kilogram, onions for Tk 50-60, new potatoes for Tk 40-45, and fresh ginger for Tk 110-120 per kilogram at reasonable prices. Consumers expressed satisfaction with the prices and felt reassured by the market visit.
