Electricity poles in middle of the road

Electricity poles in the middle of the road at Santoshpur Munshir Haat in Sandwip Upazila. As a result, vehicles are at risk, passengers are terrified of accidents.

After observing, it was seen that electricity poles on the road at Munshir Haat of Santoshpur Union. Six years ago, the Roads and Highways Department (RHD) completed the road work by placing electric poles in the middle of the road. At that time, the road was widened from 12 feet to 18 feet for the convenience of the common people, but the high voltage electricity poles in the middle of the road constantly remind of road accidents.

As a result of widening the Delwar Khan road from Munshi Haat to Kazir Gau Tematha, electric poles of 11,000 voltage electricity connection have fallen in the middle of the road. As the road is the largest road in the upazila, there is pressure on cars and people. And due to the poles in the middle of the road, traffic congestion is also being created occasionally. Due to this, accidents are also known to the locals.

Talking to some traders at Munshi Haat, it was known that the electricity pole has been repeatedly asked to the authorities on the road for about 6 years and the pole has not been removed. As a consequence, there is a traffic jam in the market.

Ismail Hossain, executive engineer of Sandwip Upazila Power Distribution Department, said, "No one has complained to us in this regard. The matter will be initiated as soon as possible."
