Although 07 years have passed since the written examination for recruitment of third and fourth class employees of Feni district health department, the result has not been declared. The fate of 3,170 applicants for 146 vacant posts in 14 categories is hanging in the balance. Even after half a century has passed, there is extreme anger among the job aspirants as the result has not been declared.
Abdul Mannan, chief assistant of the district civil surgeon's office, said that in 2015, the health department published a recruitment circular for 146 manpower for 14 posts of the third and fourth class. Among them, 15 office assistants, 18 MLSS, nine security personnel, two home visitors, three drivers, seven nannies, 14 sweepers, nine ward boys, seven cooks, 49 health assistants, two statisticians, four storekeepers, four junior mechanics. There are three gardeners. Three thousand 170 job aspirants applied for the said post. Later, according to the rules, on May 3 of that year, everyone except the sweeper candidates took part in the written examination. But even after seven years of taking the written exam, the results of the exam could not be released due to various official complications. He said that currently only 286 people are working in the district health department against 510 posts of third class. 224 posts are vacant. 111 out of 224 Class IV posts are vacant.
If the manpower is appointed according to the notification, the existing stagnation in the activities of the health department would have been reduced to some extent. In 2017, in an inter-ministerial meeting of the health department, the rest of the recruitment process was urged to be completed quickly, but it remained on paper.
Abul Kalam, a job aspirant, said that he applied in 2015 after receiving a circular from the health department. He was 29 years old then. Didn't even try for another job as the recruitment test was good. He believed that he would get the job. But in 2017, he came to know that the recruitment process of that circular has become uncertain. Finally, he got a job as a manager in a bakery with a monthly salary of 8,000 taka. Not only Abul Kalam. Such a story of many more candidates. A job seeker named Zahiru Uddin said, I applied for a job in the health department after completing my studies in lodgings in a poor family. I believed the job would be mine. I am still waiting since then. But now I don't think much about the job.
Dr. Shihab Uddin, civil surgeon of Feni, said that after the suspension of the recruitment process, no further instructions have been received so far. Many of the job aspirants have not given up their job prospects till now. They sometimes come to the office and take news. Unfortunately, we are unable to provide any updates to them.
