A false case has been filed against 130 people, including former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, in Ashulia, Savar, by showing her husband as dead during the anti-discrimination student movement. Police have arrested three people, including Kulsum Begum, the plaintiff in the case, in this incident.
She was arrested from Cox's Bazar area on Thursday. She is currently in the custody of Ashulia Police Station.
It is learned that the arrested Kulsum Begum's husband, Al Amin Mia, is the son of Sumon Mia of Rangpur. He lives in Sylhet due to work. In addition, two people named Ruhul Amin and Shafiqul have been brought to the police station for questioning for their involvement in filing a false case against Kulsum Begum, the police said.
Ashulia Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Abu Bakkar confirmed the matter. He said that after Ruhul Amin was arrested with the help of information technology, Kulsum was arrested from Cox's Bazar based on the information he provided. Later, Shafiqul was arrested from Manikganj. They will be produced in court yesterday.
During police interrogation, Kulsum Begum, the plaintiff in the case, said that she was brought to Ashulia on the promise of a job. Then, she was promised five lakh taka and an allowance of 20 thousand taka per month and the case was filed. Based on the words of Ruhul Amin and Shafiqul, she filed the case.
It is noteworthy that Kulsum filed a case against 130 leaders and activists of the Awami League, including Sheikh Hasina and Asaduzzaman Kamal, by showing her living husband as dead.
In the case statement, she mentioned that her husband Alamin was killed on August 5 during the student movement. The case was filed at Ashulia Police Station on November 8. A few days later, Alamin went to Surma Police Station in Sylhet to report the matter. When this news spread, discussion and criticism began.
