Boro paddy cultivation started in full swing at Haors in Ajmiriganj of Habiganj. Inspite of severe winter, farmers are busy. After preparing the land, plowing, raising the boro rice seedlings from the seed bed, the farmers of Haor area are spending a busy time on the land for planting. If the weather is favorable, the local farmers hope is that there will not be much problem in boro cultivation.
According to the sources of the Upazila Agriculture Directorate, in the current year, the target of boro cultivation was set on 14 thousand 623 hectares of land in 1 municipality and 5 unions of the upazila. Plantation was already completed on more than 50 percent of the land.
Visiting Ghagani, Guiyarband, Kalinjura, Shekerchar, Nowaband and other districts of the upazila, it was seent that, farmers are plowing land with tractors, some are irrigating the land with sallow machines, some are raising rice seedlings from the seed beds, and some are planting seedlings on the land.
Upazila Agriculture Officer Lutfe Al Moeez said that the target level of boro cultivation was set at 14 thousand 623 hectares of land in the current season. Boro cultivation has already been completed in more than 7 thousand hectares of land. We are providing advice to the farmers on seedbed protection, maintenance of planted land. If the weather is favourable, the production is expected to exceed the target.
