Fear of arrest in Kushtia BNP

The leaders and workers of Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) in Kushtia district are suffering from the fear of arrest due to the conflict and violence surrounding the anti-quota movement. Law enforcement forces continue to raid the houses of BNP leaders and workers every day.

It was known that the leaders and workers are all hiding from their homes. The police have filed four cases as plaintiffs in the Kushtia Model Police Station against the anti-quota movement. More than 2,000 BNP Jamaat leaders and activists have been made defendants in all these cases. The police have already arrested around a hundred leaders and activists of Kushtia city BNP including general secretary AK Biswas Babu and sent them to court.

Meanwhile, police operation has been continued to control the situation. Along with the police, the RAB also continued the sting operation in Kushtia. Many common people, including BNP Jamaat, have left their homes to avoid arrest in RAB police raids. Ward commissioners of municipal areas are providing information to the police by listing the names of opponents in the area so that they can be in an advantageous position in the upcoming municipal elections. Meanwhile, there have been allegations of police harassment of those who may not vote.

Even though the common people of the village were not involved in the anti-quota movement, the commissioners continued to harass the police by giving them fake lists. As a result, the fear of arrest is working among the common people of the village.
