Feni erupted in protests over the murder of Assistant Public Prosecutor (APP) Saiful Islam (35) in Chattogram. The District Bar Association held a program yesterday demanding the arrest of those responsible and the banning of the terrorist organization ISKCON.
Earlier on Wednesday, various organizations held these programs throughout the day in the Trunk Road, court premises, and Feni Polytechnic Institute areas of Feni City with the same demand.
At the same time, the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement, lawyers' organization IIUCIL, Gana Adhikar Parishad, and Feni Polytechnic Institute students held demonstrations and processions in Feni to protest the murder of Chittagong lawyer Saiful Islam and demand the arrest of the culprits. The program demanded the banning of the extremist organization ISKCON and the arrest of those involved in the incident.
A demonstration and rally was held in the Trunk Road area of Feni City on Wednesday afternoon under the banner of the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement. Feni City Chhatra Shibir Finance Secretary Mehedi Hasan, student organizer Jobayer Hossain, Feni representative of the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement Nur Hossain, Mohaimin Tajim, Shuvo, Omar Faruk, Shanto, municipal representative of the Student Movement Masleh Uddin Shaon, college student leader Maruf, Islamic student organizer Nadib Chowdhury, Azizul Haque, etc. spoke in the program. General students of various colleges in the district participated in the program.
Meanwhile, in the afternoon of the same day, a human chain program organized by the Alumni Association of IIUCIL Feni, a lawyers' organization, was held in the courtyard of the District Judge Court. At that time, lawyers working in the Feni court and leaders of the organization spoke. The speakers said that martyred advocate Saiful Islam Alif was an alumnus of the 19th batch of the organization and was a member of the Chattogram District Bar Association and the Bangladesh Supreme Court Bar Association.
At the same time, a protest march was held under the banner of Feni Polytechnic Institute students demanding justice for the murder of Saiful Islam and the arrest of the culprits. The march started from the institute and ended in front of the Shaheed Minar on Trunk Road in Feni town. Rafiqul Islam Ratul, a sixth-year student of the Polytechnic Institute, spoke at the rally.
