A terrible fire has taken place in a garment factory in Ashulia. Meanwhile, at least 20 rooms of the workers' village were burnt down next to the factory.
Eyewitnesses said the factory was set on fire by outside workers in order to keep it open. However, even after 3 hours passed, the fire service personnel did not reach the spot and extensive damage occurred.
The fire incident took place at the Amazon Knitwear Limited factory in Jirani Nabi textile area of Ashulia around 12 noon yesterday. Later the fire spread from the factory to the nearby workers colony. But despite the fire burning for almost three hours, the fire service personnel did not reach the spot until 2 pm.
They also complained that if the fire service had reached the spot quickly, there might not have been so much damage. The fire broke out at 12 in the morning but they did not come here until noon. Apart from the factory, valuables and furniture of many destitute workers in the labor colony were burnt.
