Fishing festival celebrated at Sakhipur in Tangail. A day-long fishing program was organized by the local fishermen’s organization on Wednesday.
It was known that members of Sokhin Matshaw Sikari Somobai Somity bought tickets for each net at a pond adjacent to Namdarpur Fazil Madrasa in Barachowna Union of the upazila. Hundreds of fishermen catch fish in the pond from dawn to dusk. Meanwhile, hundreds of men and women from different villages gathered to see the fishing festival. The area became a festive town. People attend fishing festivals and watch the fishing. Many of the hunters at the fishing festival caught different species of fish by pulling nets in the water. At this time, a different scene of the beauty of the familiar rural Bengal was created.
Nazrul Islam Chowdhury, president of the Sokhin Matshaw Sikari Somobai Somity, said, "We have 10,000 members in our association. We buy tickets and catch fish in canals, beel, rivers. It's not our job, it's our passion."
