Police arrested four people in connection with the murder of Bablur Rashid in Phulbari upazila of Kurigram.
The arrestees were identified as Habibur Rahman (40) son of Joynal Abedin, Shahjalal Haque (41), Saiful Islam (52), and Shahidul Islam (44), sons of Alimuddin of Rabaitari village of the upazila.
According to local sources, on November 22, 2021, at around 10:30 pm, after the campaign, there was an altercation between them when they came to the local Battala market. At one stage, their supporters, including uncle Saiful Islam and nephew Shahjamal, armed with local weapons, gathered and beat up Bablur Rashid, a supporter of another member candidate Mukul. He was seriously injured and was admitted to Nageshwari Shapla Clinic and died in the evening.
Fulbari Police Station Officer-in-Charge Sanwar Hossain said the four accused were arrested and sent to court on the basis of a warrant of the learned court.
