In Gurdaspur, Natore, the cultivation of garlic, known as white gold, has increased this year. Farmers are busy weaving garlic seeds on the land. It is cultivated without cultivation and at a low cost. Watermelon, bangi, and sweet pumpkin can also be cultivated with this crop. As a result, even if there is no profit in garlic, farmers are interested in this crop every year in the hope of profit in other crops.

According to the data, one-third of the country's garlic is grown in the Natore district. Last year, this crop was cultivated on 16 thousand 704 hectares of land in the district. This year, the target of this plantation has been increased to 18 thousand 200 hectares. Meanwhile, one-third of the district's garlic is in Gurdaspur and Baraigram upazilas. Among them, 7 thousand hectares in Baraigram upazila and 5 thousand 200 hectares of land in Gurdaspur upazila have been set as targets for this plantation.

On the surface, it can be seen that the festival of garlic cultivation is going on in the vast fields of Gurdaspur upazila of Chalanbil-dominated Natore district. Farmers of Gurdaspur and Baraigram upazilas are busy weaving garlic seeds. Just looking at the fields of Dharabarisha Union and Khubjipur Union of Gurdaspur Upazila, you can see the scene of land preparation and sowing of garlic. You will see the young leaves of garlic coming out of the straw of the covered land.

Upazila Agriculture Officer Harunor Rashid said that the market price of garlic was high from the beginning of this year. As a result, farmers got good prices for garlic. So the garlic crop increased. Agricultural consultancy and technical assistance continue to be provided.
