Goods worth Tk 15 lakh burnt

A fire broke out in a grocery store in Dhaka's Nawabganj and the shop and its goods were burnt. Grocer Arif Hossain said that there has been a loss of around Tk15 lakh . The fire took place in the Patatan shop in the area adjacent to the mosque next to the Dakshin Balukhand Bridge of Sholla Union of the upazila on Saturday night. The shop owner claims it is vandalism. It is known that the owner of the shop, Arif Hossain, closed the shop around 10 pm on Saturday and went home. Locals informed Arif about the fire at around 1:30 am. Besides, help is sought to put out the fire in the mosque.

The locals tried for an hour but could not put out the fire. In this, the grocery goods, gas cylinders and furniture in the shop were burnt to ashes. However, no one could tell the cause of the fire. Shop owner Arif said that he started grocery business with loan money and some of his own capital a year ago. He suffered a loss of around Tk10-15 lakh in the fire.

He also said that no one saw how the fire started. Clean up the store. Some evidence was found under the shop. A stick wrapped in old cloth was found. It is initially believed that miscreants set the fire in a planned manner. I will make a general diary to report the matter to the police station.
