Human chain demands stop of sand extraction

Residents of Ward No15 of Kushtia have protested against sand extraction by Councilor Mahidul.

According to local sources, due to sand extraction going on for a long time, the road in the residential area is getting damaged. Along with the accidents, the environment is damaged and the way of life is disrupted. The residents of the area have closed the Balu Mahal of the Awami regime's brutal terrorist councilor Mahidul. Demanding the permanent closure of the Balu Mahal, the angry residents blocked the highway at Kana Bill junction of the ward and formed a human chain yesterday at 10 am.

Residents complain that a terrorist gang led by Councilor Mahidul has been extracting sand illegally for a long time. Which has become a threat to the rivers and agricultural land of the area. Sand mining is destroying surrounding agricultural land and reducing soil stability. Despite repeated complaints against this environmental disaster, the administration did not take any effective action, finally the angry locals protested by blocking the highway and stopping 10 trucks carrying sand.

The participants in the human chain said that they will not tolerate this unethical activity and will continue their protest until the sand mining is stopped.

According to the local administration, they are looking into the matter and preparing to take legal action. When an attempt was made to contact Councilor Mahidul on his mobile phone, the photo phone used by him was found switched off.
