Human chain for closure brickyard next to school

Residents have formed a human chain to demand the closure of unauthorized illegal brick kilns near the primary school in a densely populated area in Hatiya.

This human chain was held yesterday on the road next to Madhya Maijchara Government Primary School in Maijchara village of Sonadia Union.

About 500 local residents of various professions including men and women of the school were present at the time. This human chain started from 11 am and lasted till 12 noon. Local dignitaries including businessman Abdul Mannan Rana, college students Atiq, Jamshed and Nurul Amin spoke at the human chain.

The speakers in the human chain said that this brick kiln named Wahab Brick of Maijchra village was on the river bank. Two years ago, it was shifted to a roadside site near Madhya Maijchara Govt Primary School.

Every morning, the entire area is darkened by the smoke of the brick kiln. It disrupts the learning of students coming to school. Many small children have difficulty in commuting to and from school and nearby Haji Shahe Alam Taluk Mia Noorani Madrasa. The smoke of the brick kiln is causing problems for the worshipers while offering prayers at the Ahmadiyya Jama Masjid. The people of the area tried several times to stop this brick kiln, but no result was found.

The process of restarting the brick kiln has started this year. Due to the blessing of its owner, Awami League government, the administration did not take any action in the past. This time the government has changed. They claim that the present government will take measures to stop this illegal brick kiln.
