The country's first world-class iconic railway station will open in October. The railway station is now visible with its unique architectural style. The construction of water fountains in pearl grains in the shape of oysters is now going on as a part of last minute work.
The country's only world-class tourist-friendly iconic railway station is being built at Hajipara of Jhelongja union of Cox's Bazar Sadar upazila. It is now fully visible in the tourist city of Cox's Bazar. The station is not just a station, it's constructed like a full complex. There are star-quality hotels, lockers, shopping malls, restaurants and all the world-class facilities. The construction of the station's infrastructure is almost complete. Tourists can keep their luggage in the station locker and enjoy the beach throughout the day.
Md Abdul Jaber Milon, construction manager of the iconic railway station building, said that the facilities of various modern stations of the world including China, Belgium, England, Italy have been taken into consideration in the construction of this iconic station. A total of 250 engineers and more than 600 workers including 110 foreigners, are working on the project. The iconic railway station building is visible after four years tireless work.
He also said the station will be Asia's first 100 percent tourist-friendly central air-conditioned six-storey station with all kinds of facilities for tourists. Arrangements have also been made so that tourists can come to Cox's Bazar during the day and return. Luggage and locker systems are being kept at the station. There will also be modern traffic facilities. There will be various facilities including ticket counter, reception center, locker on the ground floor and shopping malls and restaurants on the second floor. There will be a modern restaurant on the third floor. Many other facilities such as mosque, child care center, moving staircase, ATM booths, post offices, tourist information booths and other service centers will be available in the iconic rail station.
According to sources, the iconic station of 1,87,037 square feet is being built at a cost of Tk 215 cr on 29 acres of land. And on the west side of the station, 20 5-storey buildings have been built simultaneously. In July 2018, the construction of the mega project started to build the Railway Line from Dohazari to Cox's Bazar. The mega project will cost Tk 18,034.47 cr to construct 100 km of railway line. It is funded by the Asian Development Bank (ADB) and the Government of Bangladesh.
