IUT students died by electrocution

Three university students died after being electrocuted in a picnic bus in Sripur, Gazipur. The accident occurred at around 10:30 am yesterday in Udaykhali village of Telihati union of the upazila. Joynal Abedin Mandal, officer-in-charge (OC) of Sreepur Model Police Station, said that three people were killed in the incident. 15 to 20 people were injured. They are admitted to Mymensingh Medical College Hospital.

The deceased are Jobayer Alam Shakib (22), Mostakim Rahman Mahin (22) and Mozammel Hossain Naeem (24). All of them are third-year students of the Islamic University of Technology (IUT). The identities of the injured could not be immediately ascertained.

Local resident Shamim said that 460 third-year students of the Islamic University of Technology (IUT) in the Board Bazar area of ​​Gazipur came to the Matir Maya Resort in the area for a picnic in six BRTC double-decker buses and three microbuses. As soon as it reached Udaykhali village in Telihati Union, bus number 5 was electrocuted by an 11,000-volt line passing by the road. Each of the injured was electrocuted, burning their hands, feet, and faces.

Mymensingh Medical College Hospital Deputy Director Zakiul Islam said that all three were brought to the hospital dead.
