Mominur Ratan Sarkar alias Ratan Sarkar, 48, Rangpur bureau chief and special reporter of Somoy Sangbad, passed away at the age of 48. He died at Rangpur Medical College Hospital on Thursday night. He left his mother, father, wife, a son, a daughter and many admirers. The meeting was held at Nilphamari Alia Madrasa ground after Jumma prayers. After the namaz-e-janaza, he was buried at Nilphamari Central Graveyard.
Redwan Himel, rangpur Correspondent of Samay Sangbad and a colleague of Ratan Sarkar, said he was in Dhaka with a delegation of Teesta Bachao Nodi Bachao Sangram Parishad to meet Prime Minister's Political Adviser Kabir Bin Anwar in the morning. He returned to Rangpur in the afternoon. Later, he suffered a heart attack at night and was rushed to Rangpur Medical College Hospital. He died while undergoing treatment there.
