Jubo League activist hacked to death

A Jubo League worker named Walif Hossain Manik (35) was shot and hacked to death in broad daylight at Ishwardi in Pabna.

This incident happened around 8:30 am yesterday. Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Ishwardi Police Station Shahidul Islam confirmed this information.

The deceased Manik is the son of Yunus Ali of Baghail Rooppur Mor village of Pakshi Union of Upazila and younger son-in-law of Saifuzzaman Pintu, former chairman of Pakshi Union Parishad.

His family and local sources confirmed that he was the former vice-president of Pakshi Union Chatra League and currently an active worker of Jubo League.

The police and the relatives of the deceased said that Tafsir Ahmed Mona (24), a Chatra League activist, was shot dead by miscreants at the MP intersection of Lakshikunda village of the upazila on June 17, 2023 at around 11 pm. The accused in that case was Walif Hossain Manik, former vice-president of Pakshi Union Chatra League and currently Jubo League activist. He was arrested and in jail. He was released from jail after getting bail from the High Court 20 days ago.

 Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Ishwardi Police Station Shahidul Islam said, 'After receiving the news, the police reached the spot and sent the body to the Pabna General Hospital morgue for post-mortem. We have already got information about who is involved in this murder. Police operation is going on to arrest them. I hope we can arrest them quickly.
