Kendua UP election in high momentums

The fourth phase of Kendua Upazila Parishad elections in Netrokona has gathered at the last moment. This upazila election will be held on June 5. A total of 14 candidates including chairman and vice chairman are participating in the election.

It is known that in the Kendua Upazila Parishad election, the election has been congested due to the fact that several heavyweight candidates of the same party are contesting for the post of chairman and vice chairman. The upazila's streets, Hat-Bazar, sub ways are already full of slogans in the rally meeting and campaigning around the election. Banner festoons are covered in the haat-bazar of various unions of the upazila almost everywhere. Ignoring the intense heat, the candidates are rushing to the voters' houses. The sun heat seems to be given up on them. They are making various promises in asking for votes on their behalf. Everyone is optimistic about winning from their position. They have become desperate in campaigning and asking for votes.

Awami League supporter and worker of Chirang Union Md Kamruzzaman said that since there is no party symbol this time, the right Awami League leader should be alive and voted for in the election of candidates. There are many candidates. The election campaign is over. People should vote according to their field. However, since there are multiple Awami League candidates, the activists and supporters are in a bit of trouble.

Sultan Mahmud, general voter of Gonda Union, said that so far the discussion of voting was limited to miking, posters and meetings of party leaders and activists. His opinion is that people are not very sincere towards voting. Even after that, the upazila parishad election has accumulated at the last moment.

Upazila Awami League office secretary Asadul Karim Mamun said that the candidates in the upazila parishad elections will move forward based on their own merits. Party leaders and supporters will vote for their preferred leader. Many voters are at a loss due to multiple party candidates. The upazila parishad election has gathered at the last minute. Voters will elect their favorite leader.

District Awami League advisor Md Mizanur Rahman said, "All the candidates are eligible. I have started campaigning long ago. I am hopeful that the people of all levels of the upazila will forget all the dilemmas and vote for me."

Not only Mizanur Rahman but all the candidates are hopeful about winning.

Upazila Vice Chairman Candidate Mamunul Kabir Khan said I have been working in the field for a long time. I am in on the people's happiness and sadness. I believe I will win the election with a huge margin.

Incidentally, there are five people in the list of the last final candidates for the post of chairman from the upazila. They are former general secretary of Awami League Panthi Upazila Awami League, former three-time chairman of Mozafarpur Union Nurul Alam Md Jahangir Chowdhury (Kap-Pirich), former panel chairman of Zilla Parishad, former women's affairs secretary of Upazila Awami League and former two-time secretary of Chirang Union. Chairman Salma Akhtar (motorcycle), former president of Upazila Chhatra League and former two-time vice chairman of Upazila Parishad Mofazzal Hossain Bhuya (Ghora), former president of Upazila Chhatra League, former joint general secretary of Upazila Awami League, former chairman of Paikura Union Parishad Humayun Kabir Chowdhury (Doat Kalam) and honorable member of District Awami League Advisory Council Mizanur Rahman (Apple).

3 candidates for the post of vice chairman are joint general secretary of Chirang Union Awami League of upazila, general secretary of Bangladesh Legal Aid Center, Kendua upazila branch and human rights activist Mamunul Kabir Khan (Tala), vice chairman of Upazila Ulama Parishad Maulana Harunur Rashid Talukdar (Tubewell), and Sergeant Md. Yahya Khan (Chosma).

And the final 6 candidates for the post of female vice chairman are current vice-chairman and organizing secretary of Upazila Jubo Mahila League teacher Selina Begum (football), former female vice chairman Jahanara Rozi (Hash), president of Upazila Mahila Awami League Mina Akter (Projapoti) Fatema Begum (Padma Phul), Yuva Mahila League leader Sumi Akhtar (Kolos) and Syeda Smriti Akhtar (Ceiling Fan).

According to the election office of the upazila, the total number of voters in 13 unions and 1 municipality of the upazila are 2 lakh 73 thousand 332 people. Among them, the number of male voters are 1 lakh 39 thousand 4 hundred 24 people. The number of female voters are 1 lakh 32 thousand 8 hundred 94 and Hijra voters are 6.

According to the announced schedule, in the fourth phase of the upazila parishad election, voting will continue continuously from 8 am to 4 pm on June 5 in 96 centers. In this regard, Kendua Police Inspector Enamul Haque PPM said that police and Ansar have been deployed in each polling station to maintain law and order. Besides, 2 striking teams of police of each union will be on patrol. Magistrates along with mobile coats, other law and order forces will be on duty in the elections.
