Taraganj Police Station has arrested Madrasa teacher Delwar Hossain, the main accused in the case of kidnapping and attempted murder of two children by poisoning in Taraganj, Rangpur.
Last Thursday afternoon, Taraganj Police Station SI Kanak Ranjan Barman and his accompanying force arrested him from the Sadar area of Nilphamari district using information technology and brought him to the police station. Delwar Hossain is the son of Khalilur Rahman of Damodarpur Boro Dolapara village of Sawar Union of the Upazila. The student's father Golam Mostafa filed a case with Taraganj Police Station on November 2. The case number is GR-02.
According to police and eyewitness sources, on October 31, teacher Dilwar Hossain took two children to a graveyard next to the madrasa, saying that he would show them a jinn. There, he blindfolded the two children, lowered them into a secret well, mixed poison with juice and made them drink it. He threatened that if he removed the blindfold, the family would suffer. At that time, child Imran vomited there. The teacher started abusing the two children. At that time, a person named Beauty Begum overheard their conversation and went there. Seeing her, the teacher fled from there.
Taraganj Police Station SI Kanak Ranjan Barman said, the accused Delwar Hossain is very clever. He used to change his location every day and stay in different places. Finally, we were able to catch him using information technology.
Taraganj Police Station Officer-in-Charge Saidul Islam said, "This case is basically a sensational attempt to murder case of Taraganj Police Station. We were able to arrest the main accused in the attempt to kill two madrasa students by giving them poison. The accused was sent to jail on Friday afternoon."
