In Bajunia village of Gopalganj Sadar Upazila, an unauthorized factory is set up on the agricultural land on the roadside and collecting lead illegally by burning old batteries. Due to this illegal factory, the health of the local people at risk. People around the factory suffer from various complex and serious diseases due to fumes created by burning old batteries and collecting lead in unauthorized factories. In addition, extensive damage is being done to various crops in the field. Due to the smoke generated by the factory, there has been an extreme environmental disaster in some villages. Every night, many places become uninhabitable due to the toxic fumes emitted by furnaces to collect lead by burning batteries. The lives of thousands of people in the surrounding villages are becoming miserable. Going to spot, it was seen that, it can be seen that about 35-40 percent of the land was set up, and illegal factories built to collect lead by burning old batteries. 10/15 workers aged 25 to 35 years are busy burning old batteries by lighting fires without any security from around 9 pm like every day. Local Palash Sheikh said that the work of collecting lead by burning old batteries going on at Habibur Rahman's place in this area. Usually, they start factory work after 9 pm. As soon as the factory starts, toxic black smoke spreads around. Md. Alam, who is in charge of managing the factory, said that we do not have permission, thousands of factories in different parts of the country are melting batteries and making lead without permission.

Md. Mahfuz, assistant director of the Gopalganj district office of the Department of Environment,  said, "I don't know about this lead collection factory and no one has made any complaint. Now I know that necessary action will be taken against the factory under the environmental law.

Gopalganj Sadar Upazila Nirbahi Officer Mohsin Uddin said that no one has complained about the factory. Now I know, that action will be taken with the Department of Environment.
