A rural electricity employee named Harunur Rashid (40) who was riding a motorcycle was crushed by the wheels of an illegal tractor at Dhamoirhat in Naogaon.
The accident took place on the road of Ghorabat Colony area of Jahanpur Union of Upazila yesterday at 8 am. Deceased Harunur Rashid was an employee of Naogaon Palli Bidyut Samity-2 as meter reader cum messenger. He is the son of late Abdur Rahim Sarkar of Hakimpur police station in Dinajpur district.
Colleagues said that Harunur Rashid was coming to Dhamoirhat on a motorcycle from his home for work on Monday morning. On the way, when he reached the road of Ghorabat Colony area, he collided with a tractor coming from the opposite direction. He was crushed by the wheels of the tractor and died on the spot. In this incident, the killer driver and helper of the illegal tractor are absconding. On receiving the information, the police visited the spot.
Raisul Islam, OC of Dhamirhat police station, said that the body will be sent to the morgue for post-mortem by filing a case under the Road and Transport Act. The process of arresting the killer driver and helper is in progress.
