Militant held with looted 45 arms

A militant named Jewel Bhuiyan (26) of Ansarullah Bangla team who escaped from Narsingdi district jail has been arrested by the district police.

48 firearms, 1091 rounds, large quantity of ammunition shells, magazines and handcuffs were recovered. Superintendent of Police Mustafizur Rahman confirmed the information in a presser at the district police super office yesterday afternoon.

The Superintendent of Police said that on Friday, July 19, some miscreants and vandals in the guise of quota activists attacked the Narsingdi District Jail in a planned manner, looted, vandalized and set fire to it. Later, the jail was broken and 826 prisoners were released. Among them are 7 militants of Ansarullah Bangla Team and two women militants of JMB. Meanwhile, the militants took weapons and 7000 rounds of bullets with them. Four militants have already been arrested. Among them, a militant, Jewel, was arrested by the Narsingdi district police in a special operation.

A total of over 400 accused surrendered. They were arrested and sent to Kashimpur Central Jail under the supervision of Narsingdi District Police. In addition, there have been several cases of vandalism, looting and arson of various government buildings in Narsingdi. Many accused have been arrested.

The Superintendent of Police said that operations are underway to arrest the accused and those who vandalize, loot, and set fire to government buildings are never students. They are miscreants, our campaign against them will continue.
