Miscreants destroy Six Bigha paddy fields

Farmer Abdul Sobahan (70) of Amanto village of Shihara union of Naogaon's Patnitala upazila is crying. The reason for crying is that someone burnt the half-ripe paddy of about 6 bigha planted by him with pesticides to calm him down.

In this regard, Abdul Sobhan is seeking justice from various people. But after not getting any justice, he finally filed a written complaint at the police station but did not accept it. Patnitala Police Station OC Shah Enayetur Rahman informed that the complaint was not accepted as there was no specific witness in the complaint. Helal Uddin of Amanto village said that the season for bringing rice home would come only after one and a half to two weeks. But due to former enmity, there was slight disharmony with the neighbor. Maybe they are the ones who can do this heinous act in the dark of night.

The local residents said, 'Before taking the paddy home, those inhumans sprayed pesticides and burnt the half-ripe paddy. Wasted the wealth of the country. Even if you steal, it is useful for someone, but what is the use if you burn it? What kind of hostility! We demand exemplary punishment of the guilty subject to a fair investigation.'

The victim, Abdul Sobhan, told this reporter in a tearful voice, 'About 6 bigha of half-ripe paddy was sprayed with all the pesticides and burnt. He threatened me because of previous enmity. In my own name, Amant of Dakshin Para Ground, bearing JL No-31, RS Khatian No-236, Dag No-1678. In this incident, he also claimed that there was a loss of approximately two and a half lakh rupees including the production cost of 6 bigha of semi-ripe paddy.

Muntasir, Deputy Assistant Agriculture Officer of Patnitala Upazila Agriculture Office, said, 'I visited the damaged crop field yesterday afternoon. Miscreants are destroying about 6 bighas of semi-ripe paddy by spraying pesticides. In this case, the investigation report from the agriculture department will be given to the victim in the form of written confirmation. He also said that it is no longer possible to protect the damaged crops. Because, the crop of semi-ripe paddy fields has been scorched in order to spray additional pesticides.

Patnitala Upazila Agriculture Officer (Additional) Mohaiminul Islam said, this loss is not only the victim rice farmer Abdul Sobhan. This is the loss of our Bangladesh. On behalf of the agriculture department, we will support the victim's family to take legal action in this regard.
