Monthly Law and Order Meet Held

Drug and smuggling in Burichang Upazila has increased at an alarming rate recently. Being a border area, there has been a constant increase in drug and smuggling from India.

In the monthly meeting of the Burichang Upazila Law and Order Committee to stop drug and smuggling, it was decided that check posts will be set up on different roads of the upazila two days a week by the joint initiative of the upazila administration and the police station.

A discussion on this issue was held at the monthly Law and Order and Coordination Committee meeting yesterday morning in the conference room of the Burichang Upazila Nirbahi Officer.

The meeting, chaired by Burichang Upazila Nirbahi Officer Sahida Akhter, was attended by Upazila Agriculture Officer Afrina Akhter, Upazila Health and Family Planning Officer Dr. Mir Hossain Mithu, Officer-in-Charge of the Police Station Mohammad Azizul Haque, Upazila Secondary Education Officer Abdul Mannan, Upazila Education Officer Fauzia Akhter, Project Officer Md. Mostafa Maidul Morshed Murad, Food Officer Ahmed Hossain, URC Officer Mostafa Kamal, BRDB Officer Russell Sarwar, Women Affairs Officer Fatema Zohra, Rural Electricity DGM Hafizur Rahman, Rural Savings Officer Md. Habibur Rahman, and officials and public representatives from various departments.
