The entire locality is covered with dense fog in Moulvibazar. As a result, public life has come to a standstill due to cold and gusty winds.
The minimum temperature was recorded at 15.6 degrees Celsius at 9 am yesterday. Due to this, slum dwellers and day laborers have suffered endlessly due to lack of winter clothes.
It was known that the temperature has been fluctuating in Sreemangal of Moulvibazar district for the last few days. In the afternoon, the intensity of winter increases and it will remain till morning. Due to this, the cold-related diseases outbreak also were seen the upazila hospital every day. They are being released with first aid. Meanwhile, the crowd of low- and middle-income people in warm clothes shops is increasing.
Locals said that the level of cold increases after evening. However, the temperature rises at 10 am and remains normal till the afternoon. Low-income people are leaving home early in the morning to earn a livelihood in the harsh winter. Many of them are stone workers, tea workers, van drivers and day laborers.
Sreemangal Meteorological Observatory Observer Md Anisur Rahman said the minimum temperature was recorded at 15.6 degrees Celsius at 9am yesterday. The temperature may remain for a few more days.
District Civil Surgeon Dr Chowdhury Jalal Uddin Murshed said the number of cold-related patients in the district and upazila health complexes is increasing day by day. Especially children and the elderly are more affected by cold-related diseases.
