MRIB keens to launch Math Lab in all school

Mohammad Jahangir Alam, headmaster of Napora Shekherkhil High School, is busy with the internal renovation of the school when all educational institutions in the country are closed. He used the closure of educational institutions as a wonderful opportunity to reform the school. Mohammad Jahangir Alam held a meeting with the President of Mathematical Science Research Institute Bangladesh (MRIB) Mohammad Raihanul Islam to discuss the development of education and educational institutions. An agreement was signed between MRIB and Napora Shekherkhil High School to establish an innovative math lab.

Napora Shekherkhil High School has obtained the best school in Banshkhali Upazila under the Chattogram Board on the basis of SSC result in 2024. MRIB has supervised the overall aspects of the establishment of 'Modern Mathematics Lab' as a partner organization. The opening ceremony of the mathematics lab was held yesterday morning.

The headmaster Jahangir Alam said, "In 2024, 166,000 students failed in mathematics in the secondary examination in Bangladesh. Keeping this in mind, this step is taken to bring the rate of failed students in mathematics of Napora Shekherkhil High School to zero."

The lab has more than 150 boards of mathematics. For the convenience of the students, the math tools have been divided into four parts. MRIB Founder President Mohammad Raihanul Islam commented that it will be easier to understand the students as well as to remember them consistently.

It was known that the math tools have been divided into four parts: 1. Basic knowledge of geometry and the Museum of Geometry 2. The Beauty of Mathematics 3. Mathematics in Nature 4. Biographies of Mathematicians.

Basic knowledge of geometry and everything in geometry including triangles, quadrilaterals, squares, rectangles, parallelograms, rhombus, trapezium have been placed in 3D form in the Museum of Geometry. In this, students will be able to understand that mathematics is not a matter of memorization, but of understanding. The beauty of mathematics has been placed in this math lab so that students can understand the real fun of mathematics. In addition, mathematics in nature shows the presence of mathematical presence in nature.

Mohammad Raihanul Islam, Founder President of MRIB said, "MRIB is committed to establish at least one Mathematics Lab in every campus to make Math Lab accessible to every student. However, it is not possible to reach the benefits of mathematics lab to all students unless government / private support that is absolutely necessary to implement this potential project."

MRIB was established on June 24, 2020. After its establishment, Math Exhibition-2020 was organized in Chattogram and then 'Math Exhibition-2022' was organized at the Star Hotel in Dhaka. In continuation of this, MRIB is going to do Math Exhibition in 2024 like other years.
