Swecchasebak League leader hacked to death

Union Swecchasebak League leader was hacked to death in Hijla, Barisal. Besides, one person has been arrested in this incident. The incident happened on Wednesday night. The deceased Sufian Sardar (32) is the son of Md Jamal Sardar, a resident of Char Durgapur village of Memania Union of the upazila. Sufian is the vice-president of Memania Union Swecchasebak League.

Noman Sardar, uncle of Sufian and member of Ward No. 9 of Memania UP, said that they have a dispute with former UP member Mainul, Wahab Ali Goldar on various issues, including fish ghats in Meghna river bank areas. Due to Union Swecchasebak League Vice President Sufian, opponents cannot carry out terrorist activities in the area. He was angry with him for this reason. UP member Noman claimed that Sufian was taking his two friends around 10 pm on Wednesday. When the former ward member and BNP leader reached Mainul's house, the opposition attacked. When his two friends ran away, Sufian was found alone and killed by Mainul, Wahab Ali, his son Saeed, opponent Kabir, Amir, Kawsar and others.

On receiving the news, they went and rescued Sufian and taken him to Hijla Health Complex. From there, Sufian died on the way to Barisal Sher-e-Bangla Medical College Hospital. Hijla Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Zubair Ahmed said that the incident took place in a clash between two parties over the dominance of the area. Several people were injured on both sides. Among them, 5 people were seriously injured. One of the injured was killed. The identity of four seriously injured people is not known yet. The OC said the body was recovered and sent to the morgue for post-mortem. The victim's father filed a case in this incident. One person involved in the incident has been arrested.
