Two bodies were recovered two days after a trawler capsized after being hit by a bulkhead in the Dhaleshwari River. Police recovered the bodies of -- Rafiqul Islam, 35, son of Danez Ali and Russel, 14, son of Selim of Saturia upazila-- from Kushunda area of Ghior upazila in Manikganj district on yesterday. The death toll from this incident rose to three. Officer-in-charge of Ghior police station Sukumar Biswas said local people spotted the bodies in Char Kushunda area of the river, one kilometer off the spot where the trawler sank, around 1PM and informed police. Later they recovered the bodies and sent those to the local hospital morgue for autopsy.
Earlier, on Tuesday some 50-60 people of Saturia upazila went on a boat journey in the Dhaleshwari River. The trawler capsized in the river after being hit by a bulkhead while it was returning to their home. In the incident, five people were injured and two remained missing. However, the others managed to swim ashore. Among the injured, a man named Limon was declared dead when he was taken to the hospital. The police official said they have seized the bulkhead.
