Narsunda River flowing over Kishoreganj city has become a wasteland of garbage and water hyacinth. The Narsunda River was dredged under the Municipal Area Development Scheme. Excavation work was inaugurated on November 22, 2012, by the then-local government minister late Syed Ashraful Islam.
Tk 110 crore was spent on it. The river was dug and turned into a lake, but the situation did not improve. The residents of the city demanded the implementation of a Detailed Project Plan (DPP) in the project work to overcome this situation.
