Work of a new building with six floors started in 2018 to increase Fulgazi Upazila Health Complex of Feni to 50 beds against 31 beds. The work was supposed to be completed in August 2019. The construction work of the hospital building has not been completed even after extending the period six times. According to the relevant sources, a contractor named MS Dali Construction Ltd got the construction work. In the last six years, its external physical infrastructure has progressed by 80 percent. But there is hardly any work progress inside. Going to spot, it was seen that, the new building of the six-story Fulgazi Upazila Health Complex, which has been upgraded from 31 beds to 50 beds, started in February 2018 at a cost of Tk 16.5 million. The construction work was inaugurated by the then-local member of parliament Shirin Akhtar. Although the work is scheduled to be completed in August 2019, the work of the 50-bed hospital building has not yet been completed.  Time has been given for 18 months starting on 25th February 2018, but in reality, only 80 percent physical progress has been made so far in six years. In this regard, Mahbubur Rahman, the engineer in charge of the contractor, said, "We have started work at the right time." But due to Corona, the work was stopped for some time. Besides, piling has to be done with a hydraulic jack machine to protect the old building.

He also said that the money for the construction of the building is assigned to the transaction bank. But the bank could not give us the money on time. Besides, it is not possible to import the lift and necessary equipment as the foreign LC is closed at present. Therefore, we have again asked for an extension of time till April 2024.

Fulgazi Upazila Health and Family Planning Officer Rubaiyat bin Karim said, that due to the inadequacy of the building, this hospital is struggling to provide health services. For the past few years, I have been hearing that the construction of this hospital building will be completed. But nothing is working. For a long time, the work has not been completed despite the extension of the period several times. Due to this, the common people of the entire upazila cannot get proper health care.
