Nigerian National Arrested in Feni

A Nigerian national has been arrested while attempting to enter Bangladesh illegally from India. 

The individual, named Gilbert Apeh, son of Emeka, was arrested by the Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) at the East Nij Kalikapur area of Parshuram upazila in Feni district early yesterday morning. His passport number is A10880738. According to the information on his passport, he arrived at New Delhi Airport, India, from Nigeria on May 22. After staying in India for a while, he illegally entered Bangladesh at 3:00 AM on Saturday. 

In a separate operation, the BGB recovered a large quantity of Indian whiskey and Target tablets from the Sonapur Cemetery area, which is near the border in the Chhagalnaiya upazila. The approximate value of the seized items is Tk 14,32,000. 

Lieutenant Colonel Mohammad Mosharraf Hossain, the commander of the 4th BGB Battalion in Feni, confirmed the details and said, "The Nigerian national has been arrested and will be handed over to the police. The seized drugs and tablets will be handed over to the Department of Narcotics Control. The BGB will continue its operations to maintain security at the border and prevent illegal immigration and smuggling."
