In order to save people from natural calamities and protect the environment as well as meet the demand for molasses, the new Deputy Commissioner of Manikganj Dr Manwar Hossain Molla has inaugurated the palm seed planting program in Saturia upazila of Manikganj.
He inaugurated this program yesterday by sowing palm seeds on a road in Munsichar area of Baliati union of the upazila.
Meanwhile, Deputy Commissioner Dr Manwar Hossain said that 20,000 palm seeds will be planted in the district. We will not be limited to this, the planting of palm seeds will be increased gradually. Palm trees protect us from various natural calamities as well as protect the environment. If there are more palm trees, juice can be collected from them to make molasses, thereby meeting our demand for molasses. These molasses are unadulterated. So he advised to plant palm trees as well as take care of them.
After that, the Deputy Commissioner visited Ishwar Chandra High School, Upazila Land Office and Upazila UNO Office. After the visit, he exchanged views with the officials of various departments of the upazila.
Upazila Executive Officer Shanta Rahman, Assistant Commissioner (Land) Tanbir Ahmad, Baliati UP Chairman Mir Sohail Ahmed Chowdhury, Baliati Union Land Assistant Officer Shahidul Islam and others were present.
