Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Hasina Momotaz has inaugurated the program of planting 1200 palm trees to prevent lightning in Shalikha Upazila Sadar Arpara Ecopark of Magura.
With the initiative of the upazila administration and the cooperation of the sub-district social welfare organization, the plantation of palm saplings was inaugurated at Shalikha Upazila Parishad Ecopark at 11 o'clock yesterday.
During this time he said that the palm tree works as a helper in the prevention of lightning. Climate change has increased the frequency of lightning strikes. Because of this, people of all ages, including young and old, are constantly losing their lives due to lightning. So there is no alternative to planting palm trees to protect against lightning.
Upazila Agriculture Officer Agriculturist Md Alamgir Hossain, Academic Supervisor Biplab Kumar Roy, Head Teacher Yasmin Akhter, Anik on behalf of Mahkoma Kalyan Organization, Firoz Hossain Mridha along with members of DB Social Welfare Organization and Ideal Social Welfare Organization were present.
