Police in action against illegal vehicles

To make the city of Sylhet free from traffic jams and to restore order to traffic, the police is launching an operation against battery-operated rickshaws-autorickshaws, illegal and unregistered CNG-operated autorickshaws. Traffic department of Sylhet Metropolitan Police started the operation from yesterday morning. The traffic department said they will continue this campaign to restore order on the roads.

A simultaneous operation was launched in Bandar Bazar area of ​​Mahnagar, Tilagarh, Pathantula, Amberkhana Point, Humayun Rashid Chatwar and Chandipool area  from yesterday morning. At that time, cases were filed and raking under the Motor Vehicle Act and Road Transport Act against battery operated rickshaws, autorickshaws, illegal and unregistered CNG autorickshaws and other vehicles.

Sylhet Metropolitan Police Deputy Commissioner (Traffic) BM Ashraf Ullah Taher said that illegal CNG-powered auto-rickshaws and TomToms are parking everywhere in the city. Sometimes charging extra fare from passengers. As a result of which the city dwellers are suffering. We will continue to conduct operations against these illegal and unfit vehicles to decongest the metropolis and restore order on the roads. We will continue our routine activities at 24 points in the metropolis.
