The Maheshpur police station of Jhenaidah has been empty for the past few days due to the anti-discrimination student movement, but the policemen have started returning to the police station since yesterday.
They are preparing to start official work as well as normal activities after returning to their workplace. However, even after returning to work, some high-ranking members of the police say that there is a kind of panic and fear.
A discussion meeting was held yesterday under the leadership of Lt. Col. Azizus Shahid, director of 58 BGB at Maheshpur police station. In the discussion meeting, Azizus Shaheed expressed the hope of starting the normal activities of the police station and providing all kinds of cooperation to maintain law and order in the area. At that time, 58BGB Deputy Director Major Molla Obaidur Rahman, Assistant Director Mohammad Saiful Islam, and Maheshpur Police Station Officer In Charge (OC) Mahabubur Rahman were present.
Maheshpur Police Station Officer in Charge (OC) Mahabubur Rahman said that the policemen were on strike for a few days to seek justice for the casualties caused by the attacks and arson in various police stations of the country. The policemen have started coming to the police station following the call of the Inspector General of Police to join the policemen at work within 24 hours.
He also said that work will be done to bring back the lost tradition of the police. The police force is not enemy of people. They will work as a servant.
