President Salam, Secretary Hasan

An upazila BNP committee has been formed in Chougacha of Jashore. Yesterday, MA Salam was elected president and Masudul Hasan as secretary by direct vote of councilors of 11 unions of the upazila. Alibuddin Khan Ali and Mostafizur Rahman Mostak were elected to organizational positions.

Jashore district BNP member secretary Advocate Syed Saberul Haque Sabu and joint convener Delwar Hossain Khokon led the election commission in the upazila council. District BNP convener Professor Nargis Islam visited the election along with district leaders. Out of a total of 781 voters in 11 unions of the upazila, MA Salam was elected as president by getting 405 votes.

Masudul Hasan was elected as general editor by getting 451 votes. Biennial Council of Upazila BNP was held after 12 long years. Upazila BNP joint convener and newly elected president MA Salam said that the Awami League government could not suppress BNP even after suppressing BNP for the past 15 years. Hundreds of upazila BNP leaders and activists were forced to leave their homes due to the torture of the Awami Police Force. Upazila BNP will regain momentum through this council election. This election is a part of party democracy. Whether we win or lose in this election, we are all leaders and workers of the nationalist party. He urged not to get involved with anyone. At the same time, the newly elected president MA Salam ordered to be vigilant that no one can infiltrate the party and create chaos.
